This one-day symposium in 2024 brought together ethnobotanists, gardeners, horticulturists, oral historians, beautification advocates, and plants people. Featured guests included members of African American garden clubs in North Carolina. Featured speakers included Abra Lee, director of horticulture at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Shaun Spencer Hester, director and curator of the Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum in Lynchburg and Justin Robinson, ethnobotanist and land conservationist. And the special honoree was 112 year old gardener Catherine Ferrell who looked amazing!
